From: "DEBBIE BANKO"
To: Southern Heights Neighborhood Association Sent: Wednesday, January 10, 2007 11:04 AM Subject: Christmas
I want to take this opportunity to thank the Southern
Heights Neighborhood Association for your kindness and
generosity in helping the Lawndale family at Christmas. I
want you to know how much this family appreciated their
gifts and donations of food. There was such excitement and
relief when the items were delivered. They would not have had a Christmas without your help.
I want you to know that this was definitely a family in need
and you showed the true meaning of Christmas to them. Thank
you for giving your time and money to a family you do not
even know.
Sincerely,
Debbie Banko Support Therapist

It's more than a motto
- it's a reality!!
Janie and Bo Clanton of Jim
Street are long time SHNA residents and members
of the Southern Heights Neighborhood
Association. At the March meeting Janie asked if
anyone could help her get assistance from the
city to remove some large tree limbs that had
fallen on her property. SHNA was formed on the
premise that “Neighbors help Neighbors”, so
rather than wait, SHNA members showed up to
help.
“Chainsaw” Jerry Coleman cut down additional
branches while Ruth Fondon and Jermaine (The
Clanton’s grandson) pulled the tree limbs to the
curb. Time it took…about 30 minutes.

James Theron Nichols Park
The Southern Heights Neighborhood Association will
sponsored an arts and crafts event last Saturday in
Theron Nichols Park. The Association sold food to
raise funds for the benevolent activities they have
throughout the year, and to bring the neighborhood
closer together through community activities.
Activities included Papermaking, Dying T-Shirts,
Pinch Pots, and Sock Puppet Making. The
entertainment was performed by the Partlow Drummers.
The SHNA would like to thank Regina Holt and Sherrie
Cochran for helping organize the event along with
the SHNA residents, the NAYC, the City, and all of its
sponsors.
